15 of our year 10 Computing & ICT students had an absolutely amazing day at Tech Crunch Disrupt on Tuesday 6th December 2016.
The girls had an opportunity to sample and talk to the inventors of dozens of new cutting edge tech hardware and start-up companies.
Students showed passion for the subject and work on display. Our students were even invited to be in a short video by a high-profile TechCrunch reporter about the Tech Crunch Disrupt event – which they were all very excited about!
The students were very well behaved and showed Sarah Bonnell in a very positive way. People at the event commented on how our students showed maturity and intelligence when interacting with event holders.
The highlight for many of the students was being invited back stage to have a one to one session with the supermodel Natalia Vodianova. Students learnt about how Natalia started off her business by teaming up with a former Google employee to create an app.
The mobile app aims to make it easier and more fun for people to engage with charities by allowing people to donate £1 with a “Love Button,” create content, send messages, and vote. Natalia spoke to the girls at great lengths about her exciting project. The session then turned into a Q&A where the girls were able to ask many questions about developing one's ideas especially as a woman. (They also took many, many selfies!). They walked away buzzing and inspired!
