Headteacher's Weekly Message: 6th September 2019

Every Headteacher loves the start of a new school year and I am no exception. It has a great buzz about it: freshly polished floors, new exercise books and displays, new students and teachers and lots of excitement and ambition for the year ahead. What makes Sarah Bonnell special is that it has the same levels of energy throughout the year. I feel confident that the students, families, governors and staff of Sarah Bonnell will do everything they can to make 2019-20 another happy and successful year.

On Monday, the year got off to a flying start with a training day for all staff, which revisited the school vision and values and went over some important information on Safeguarding in the Newham context. Staff also had an inspiring session from the Lead Practitioners on how to use the new ‘Brain Boxes ’, which are packed full of resources for staff to use in lessons. New students in Year 7 have told me they have had a ‘brilliant week’ and older students say that it is good to be back and they are looking forward to the new school year. New staff have also given great feedback on their first week at Sarah Bonnell saying things like ‘ I feel so welcomed and supported’ and ‘There is a great feeling that staff are a team working together to get the best for the students’ Welcome back everyone.
