Sarah Bonnell Digital Leaders shape government thinking - Aim High

On Monday 13   November some of our digital leaders were invited to attend a meeting with government officials to discuss the future of the UK’s internet strategy in schools. Sarah Bonnell girls were confident and able to voice their opinions on what they think should be done to help combat online dangers and cyber bullying. Government officials were very impressed with how the girls presented themselves and will definitely be working with us again in the future. Well done Ms Adel and the Digital Leaders

The Year of 2017 come back for the Celebration of Achievement Evening – No Excuses

On Thursday staff were proud to see last year’s Year 11 return to collect their GCSE certificates and receive prizes for their outstanding academic achievements. There were lots of smiles as the girls came on stage to receive their awards which were presented to them by the Vice Chair of Governors, Mr Kristian Grice, the Foundation Governors, Janet Williams and Winston Vaughan and our special guest Mr Jeffrey O’Brien. Mr O’Brien announced the launch of the O’Brien Family Scholarship. This of an incredible opportunity for one Sarah Bonnell student each year to win a scholarship of up to £25 000 to support their studies over their five year journey from Sixth Form to University. I would like to thank all our former students for coming along last night – it was lovely to see them and hear how well they have settled in to their KS5 studies. Newham Collegiate Sixth Form, London Academy of Excellence, Newham Sixth Form are all very lucky to have such exceptional young women joining their colleges. Huge thanks to Ms Nahaboo, Ms Ward, Ms Sangster, Mr Hudson and all the staff who made this event so special.

Sarah Bonnell Prefects interview the KS3 Ambassadors – Be Proud

On Friday the Year 11 Prefects did a brilliant job of interviewing students who had applied to be KS3 Ambassadors. Great to see the Prefects putting their leadership skills into action and great to see so many KS3 girls keen to take up roles of responsibility in the school. Good luck.

National Anti-bullying Week - Be Nice

This week Sarah Bonnell has been reflecting on the importance of ‘Be Nice’ as part of our focus on Anti-bullying week. Girls have organised assemblies, written pledges and sold wrist-bands to promote the importance of treating each other with kindness.  Some students and staff have been trying to reduce the amount of screen-time by having a ‘digital detox’. Please take time to watch the brilliant piece of drama devised by Sarah Bonnell girls on –online safety as part of the Barbican Box drama programme.  The messages in this piece are really thought provoking.
