The new half-term has got off to a flying start with lots of opportunities for girls in all years to Be Proud and Aim High.
On Monday 20 February a group of students visited Cambridge University as part of the Brilliant Club programme. The girls really enjoyed the visit and feel determined to work hard to achieve great GCSE and A’ Level results so that they can apply to study for a degree there.
On Wednesday 22 February four teams of Year 9 entrepreneurs visited the offices of KPMG in Mayfair. The girls had to pitch their business plans to some prestigious professionals as part of the Dragons Den programme developed in partnership with East London Business Association and KPMG. The Dragons, parents and staff were all extremely proud of the girls who presented with confidence and skill.
On Thursday 23 February we had our first Extended Learning Day this year with students in all year groups having the opportunity to focus in depth on one aspect of their learning. Year 10 were treated to an inspiring presentation from a visiting motivational speaker called Action Jackson, Year 8 developed their computer science skills by coding micro-bits, Year 7 were involved in team-building games and Year 9 were developing their understanding of how to develop emotional resilience. Staff and visitors were all really impressed with the ‘No Excuses’ approach the girls brought to trying new things.
I look forward to seeing more great learning take place next week and wish the Year 11 girls good luck with the their second round of trial exams.
